Data centers are rooms of computer servers that provide networking and internet-based services. Standard Methods of Cooling Data Centers

Mechanical plants cool data centers with the help of air-conditioning units or electrically driven fans. This cooling equipment needs to run almost non-stop, which is a massive cost to a company. In addition to that, these cooling systems consume colossal amounts of energy and eventually also damage the environment.

Hot Aisle Containment System (HACS) – The hot aisle containment enclosures contain the natural process of warm air rising by drawing cool air in through ducts and pushing it to the front of the server cabinets. These enclosures are built around the back of server cabinets where hot air is forced out by cool air, otherwise known as the hot aisle.

Cold Aisle Containment Systems (CACS) – The cold aisle containment separates the hot exhaust from the cool air by encircling the cold aisle, thus averting hot air recirculation inside the IT equipment. The cold air is then bypassed into the room, reducing cooling, energy consumption and enabling higher densities.

Chilled Water System – The chilled water system cools the data center equipment via the installation of indoor cooling units, along with the chiller installed outside the data center. These are connected through a piping system in which water, or a mixture of water and glycol, flows.

Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) – Computer room air conditioner, also known as Precision Air Conditioner (PAC), is a reliable air conditioning system capable of running around the clock, maintaining precise control of environmental conditions, i.e., temperature and humidity.
